Birchbark and Quill work by Pat Kruse

The Circle of Life collection contains nearly 200 works of birchbark art, ranging in size from 3"x 4" to 8"x 10". Each piece is made by hand, unique and one of a kind. Each birchbark wall hanging is mounted on masonite and triple-stitched with sinew. Pat uses all the colors of the birch in his work.

About Pat Kruse

Pat Kruse is a birchbark and quill artist who has worked with birchbark for over 30 years. He comes from a family of birch barkers, his mother being his greatest influence. Pat's technique is based on traditional Ojibwe birchbark methods and quill basketry. Pat also teaches birchbark basket workshops, with students ranging from grade school children to elders.

Pat lives on the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Reservation. He is a member of the Red Cliff Band of Ojibwe in Wisconsin and a descendent of Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.
